Annetta Mae Clements

Annetta Mae Clements was born to George and Luella Regallo on March 31, 1924 in Fresno, CA. Except for a year working in San Francisco during World War Il, Annetta spent her entire life raising a family and working in Dos Palos, CA.

Annetta was a gifted soprano and was known for her beautiful voice. In high school, she performed in rather elaborate musical productions. Later she was a regular soloist at church, wedding and funerals.

After graduating from Dos Palos High. Annetta went to work for an accountant in San Francisco where she met and fell in love with Herbert Norman Clements who was in the U.S. Navy. They soon married, and when "Clem" came home from the Pacific theater, they set up house in Dos Palos.

While raising four daughters, Annetta busied herself with sewing practically all of her own and her daughter's dresses. She made dolls and stuffed animals. Later, she made soft activity books and knit sweaters for her grandchildren. She remained an avid seamstress into her late 70's.

She was also active in the Rebekah Assembly. She liked to play canasta, was an avid reader, never missing a weekly trek to the library, and enjoyed crossword puzzles into her late 80s.

Annetta and her husband owned and operated a big, old-fashioned variety store (think 5 and 10 cent store) in Dos Palos for years. Later, they also owned and ran a children's clothing store which Annetta continued to operate by herself after Clem's death in 1981. During the years after her husband's death, she attended classes at Merced College at eamed an A.A. degree. She very much enjoyed going on cruises and taking other trips with groups of other senior citizens.

Annetta passed away on March 30, 2017, one day before her 93rd birthday, at the New Bethany Home in Los Banos where she lived for the last few years. She was preceded in death by her husband, "Clem" of 38 years and her grandson "Toby" Lingo. She is survived by her four daughters, Kathie Lee (Bob), Janice Baffunno (Bill), Sandy Mata (John), and Laurie Kinnunen (Gerry). She also leaves seven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Annetta is also survived by a sister, Marguerite and niece, Stephanie Langley.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fierro Family Funeral Home in Dos Palos, CA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Bethany Skilled Nursing home in Los Banos, Bristol Hospice or a charity of your choice.
