Jacklyn L. Merrell

Born August 16, 1941 in Santa Barbara, California to Jack White and Emma Lou (Clark) White. She was the oldest of three daughters. She learned at a very young age to care for her sisters Carol and Shirley, which set the groundwork for her lifelong passion for taking care of people. She passed away July 18th, 2017 at home with her family by her side in Dos Palos, California after a long battle with cancer.

She attended Los Banos High School and after graduation married Don Merrell. They spent their 58 years of marriage raising their four daughters and enjoying treasured friends in their beloved Dos Palos.

Jackie worked tirelessly at the Dos Palos Hospital for over forty years, first as a nurse's aide and then later as an X-ray technician. She devoted many years of service to the hospital and made many friends with the doctors, nurses and staff. She truly loved her job. Jackie devoted her life to her community and her family. She will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents Jack White and Emma Lou Clayhold, step father Archie Clayhold, daughter Dawn LeAnn Merrell and half-brother Lonnie White.

She is survived by her husband Don Merrell; daughters Terry Sampson and husband Daniel of Clovis, California, Lindy Comer and husband John of Oakhurst. California and Dena Mounce of Fresno, California. She is also survived by her sisters Carol Ledford and Shirley Davidson, half-sisters; Coleen Shinn, Donna Adams, Brenda Olmstead, Cheree Martin, sister-in-law Diane White; seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held July 22"', 2017 at 11:00am, at the Dos Palos Methodist Church, 1934 Marguerite Street, Dos Palos, California. A luncheon will follow at the DES Hall, 1357

Elgin Avenue, Dos Palos. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Stanford Hospital and her oncologist Dr. Christopher Perkins. Words cannot express our gratitude.
