Robert moved to Dos Palos with his family in 1959.  He attended Dos Palos High School where he lettered in football and graduated. Robert met his first wife who preceded him in death from that union four  children were born.  Thereafter, Robert  married Ollie Hornbeak who was his love of 21 years.  Ollie and Robert  enjoyed their union together, especially spending time with their children and grandchildren. One of his favorite pastimes was having Nanny next to him watching basketball games,  relaxing and enjoying each other.   They also  loved to travel and drive the country side together.

Robert drove trucks in his earlier years. He also taught many individuals how to obtain their trucking licenses (16 Wheelers).  He  worked 40 years for the CO-OP Gin in Dos Palos and was known as Module "Bob".  He served as the dispatcher and coordinated all truck and module movement. He was well known and liked by all the Growers which included approximately 120 Ranchers and Farmers.  He retired  in 2010 and the Co-op staff say they still miss him today because he was such a great asset and great man.  Robert also collaborated with his son, Maurice in the "Hornbeak and Son" Spreading business.

His favorite hobby was fishing, no matter where a pool of water was, Robert would fish in  it; including canals, ponds, rivers and lakes. He would fish from the bank, to the  shore and on the boat. He loved gardening, growing greens, tomatoes, peppers, melons, okra and sharing the bounty with friends and family.

"Big Mo", loved spending time with family especially his  grand kids.  Robert was the family member who wanted to be sure that every family member was safe and happy.  He also enjoyed listening to that old time Rhythm and Blues and Gospel music. Lets not forgot how  he loved to shake a leg on the dance floor, especially with Ollie.
