Jim passed from this world to his heavenly home on August 8, 2018 surrounded by his wife, his children and other loved ones.  He loved God and raised his children to love the Lord. He worked hard and was a great provider to his family.

He loved his grandbabies and over the years to his pleasure he had 23 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchilden. He is also survived by his sister Ima Jean.  His parents, brothers Ed and Darrell preceded him in death.

Jim worked for Britz Chemical for 38 years as their ranch foreman.  He loved farming from a young age.  He grew up in Firebaugh where his family worked as contractors to local farmers.  In 1952 in a cotton field in Firebaugh he met and fell in love with Daisy Smith and they were married on March 10, 1952 and just celebrated their 66th anniversary this year.

When he was young he played on a baseball team, bowling team, and spent nine years in the Army Reserves. Through his years he also loved to hunt, fish, compete in archery, going to  grand kids sporting events, spending time with family, and he loved to tease and tell jokes.

Before retiring Jim and Daisy purchased five acres in Mariposa and later built a beautiful home and barn with the help of his sons and other family members. In a dream the name “Serenity Ranch” came to him which was later placed over the gate entering their property. Many Easter family celebrations were held there providing lasting memories for everyone.   He loved living in the peaceful mountain setting of Mariposa for 20 years before moving to Merced.
