Violet Jane (Franklin) Manes
October 7, 1919 ~ January 8, 2018 (age 98) 98 Years OldViolet Manes a longtime resident of Dos Palos passed away on January 8, 2018 in Merced, CA, she was 98. Violet was born in Camden, Missouri on October 7, 1919 to Erban and Myrtle Franklin. Violet loved spending time with her grandchildren going to the movies and going on hiking expeditions. She loved to travel, her favorite place to visit was England. Violet also enjoyed working in her garden growing beautiful flowers and an abundance of vegetables. Before moving to Dos Palos from Lomita, California Violet was the president of the Lomita PTA and was a Boy Scout Mother. She was a longtime member of the Rebekkahs and held several state office positions, she was also a member of The Odd Fellows. Violet drove a school bus for the Dos Palos School District for over 30 years after retiring she went to work for the Midway Community Water District where she worked till she was 90.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband Norman Manes, her parents Erban and Myrtle Franklin and all of her brothers and sisters.
Violet leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons Donald and his wife Trisha, Charles and his wife Nancy, her grandchildren Brody and his wife Shawnon Manes, Lesli and her husband Adam Hie, Shannon and her husband Codi Barba, 6 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, along with many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Dos Palos District Cemetery on Friday January 19, 2018 at 11:00AM.
