Wesley Martin Horan Sr was born October 15, 1935 in Waco, Texas as the youngest of seven children. His parents were Emma Valentine Nichols and Winfrey Olive Horan. It was a well-known fact that he was his Mamma’s favorite.
He moved to San Jose, California in 1941 where he met and married his sweetheart Diane Sutherland in 1957. They raised their eight children in Morgan Hill where he first worked as a milkman and later delivered newspapers, waving to all the kids in the neighborhood. His last job was at Live Oak High School where he was a groundsman. He had three true loves: his wife, his children, and golf. He played golf tournaments all over California and gave lessons.
He passed away on June 15, 2018 at 2:35 am. He left this world exactly as he wanted: peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Wes spent his life leading by example. His gentleness was matched by his strength. He could make anyone laugh with his jokes and crazy dance moves. He taught the importance of humility while acknowledging personal self worth and value. He never looked down on anyone and always listened to both sides of the story. He taught his children to love Christ and could answer any question about the gospel. He was intelligent, dependable, selfless, and was nothing short of a protective teddy bear when it came to his kids and grandkids. He lived a life full of love and compassion, playing with his babies.
He is survived by his wife Diane, his 8 children Wes Jr, (Cheryl), Leslie, (Gordon Sr), Em, (Bill), Tim, (Tracie), Vic, (Dave), Rick, (Trish), Jim, (Amie), Jenny, 43 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
Services will be held Saturday morning, June 23, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 1826 Center Ave, Los Banos. Viewing at 9:00, Service at 10:00, Dedicatory Prayer at 11:00
