Cecil Reddick Obituary

Cecil “Maxine” Pearson Ricks Reddick passed peacefully after a long battle with interstitial lung disease on February 25, 2024 at the age of 89. Though Maxine spent the majority of her life as a resident of Dos Palos, California, she was born to Stella May Redding and Burl Pearson on March 25, 1934, in Stidham, Oklahoma and was the only daughter out of seven children.

To know Maxine is to know a woman of small stature but a giant in personality. Her life was as filled with trials and tribulations as it was with blessings and abundance. She lived a Christian life of moral fortitude where her word was her honor and enduring love was her bond.

Her work ethic was on full display during her twenty-year employment as an operator at the local phone company. She loved the ladies she worked with and telling her tales as an operator gave her a belly laugh until the end. Maxine was also as frugal as they come as life taught her the value of both time and money. She had impeccable financial restraint which along with her ‘Do It Yourself’ approach to life she and Albert were able to build their real estate portfolio throughout Dos Palos. Maxine was able to serve her community as a fair and inclusive landlord who often rented to those in dire need. From giving a stranded motorist a ride to roofing her own home to caring for her gravely ill husband for many, many years, Maxine was a pillar of strength and a role model for a life well lived.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her six brothers, Floyd, Burl, Jerrel, Ken, Gene and James, son Alan, as well as her husband Albert Junior Ricks and subsequent husband Dr. Harry E Reddick. While she loved life and lived it to the fullest, she has long awaited being reunited with her loved ones.  She was always quick to share a story or a lesson from those who had already passed anytime she had the chance. Her ability to remember dates and details was not only impressive but a confirmation of her enduring love and respect for those who departed before her.

Maxine is survived by her and Albert’s children Laurie (Fred), Bonnie (Rick), and Billy (Judy), her grandchildren Toni, Jamie, Mikie, Ashley, Sarah, Cassie and Derek, her bonus stepchildren Kathleen (Bruce), David (Susie), and Daniel (Kara), as well as many other dearly loved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and so many friends that were loved like family that we couldn’t possibly list everyone. Maxine had a very close bond with her church friends, neighbors and past coworkers whom she spoke of often and fondly.

John 11:25-26 "Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die."
