David Laverne Langley passed away on September 25, 2025, and was born October 26, 1942 in Yuba City California to Perry and Leta Langley. He was one of eleven children. As a child his family moved from California to Oregon where he met the love of his life Dixie. They married on March 10, 1961. David was one of the hardest workers you will ever meet. He was never without a job and if you were looking for him he could be found in a field, whether it be a cotton or cantaloupe field. David and Dixie welcomed their first son David Jr on July 17, 1961 and then on October 12, 1963 their second son Brian was born. Tragically Brian passed away on March 10, 1963 at almost 5 months old from SIDS. That’s when they moved to California. David worked for different ranches in Firebaugh, Ca but eventually the family settled down here in Dos Palos. He became the foreman for Hume Bros. Ranch where he worked for almost 40 years. He loved working out on the ranch and his favorite season was cotton season. David and Dixie rented a house from Marilyn and Jay Cox in 1976 where they both lived until the day they passed. That house became their home where they raised their son, their granddaughters and great grandchildren. It held family events, countless holidays, bbq’s, birthday parties, baby showers, every weekend with popa and grandma, backyard swimming, cooking, watering and picking the garden, watching the hummingbirds, the list could go on forever. The memories that home and land holds is priceless and will be cherished forever. David was a strong, proud man who loved his family with all that he was. He made so many friends over the years, many who fondly called him “Uncle David” and some who even referred to him as “Gordo” and he loved that name too. In his later years he loved spending time with his poodle, cruising around with her hanging out the drivers side window. He loved life and fought until the very end to spend every minute he could with his family and friends. David never did anything half way. It was all or nothing and if you knew him, then you know that is true. David was truly one of a kind. His family will miss him dearly but will try to find peace in knowing that he’s not only in heaven but that he was ready to go be with his wife Dixie, son Brian and countless family members.
David was preceded in death by his wife Dixie Janis Langley and son Brian Leroy Langley. He is survived by his son David Langley Jr and wife Tonya. His granddaughters Tamra, Alyssa and Tess Langley. His great grandchildren Chaz, Madalyn and Van Merrell and Talyn Langley. He was the most loving and amazing father, father in law, Popa and great grandpa. He finally made it through those pearly gates!
