Diane Ellen Sutherland was born May 4th 1939 in San Jose, California, as the oldest of four children. She was a shy, quiet girl who met her one true love when she was 12 years old. Five years later, she married Wesley Horan and they began building their kingdom. They raised eight children in Morgan Hill where she helped run the family milk and newspaper businesses. She was active in the church and served as Primary President, Young Women's President, and Relief Society President among other callings. But the job she prized most was being a mother. She passed away on May 13, 2022. Her last years were spent enjoying her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren through frequent visits, phone calls, and family parties.
Diane was magical. She had a talent for turning ordinary days into fun, exciting adventures. She was the queen of holidays and parties with good food, games, dangerously competitive scavenger hunts, and lots of laughter. Her door was always open, for teenagers in need of a stable environment, friends who needed a place to stay, and elderly relatives that needed care.
Diane's second home was Disneyland where she got to see her children and her children's children run and play in a magical kingdom. She loved having music in her life. She loved all sorts of musicals, but nothing beat Camelot. Above all, Diane loved family. She led by example with love, always nurturing and serving others. Her light reached out to countless people, lifting them up and making them feel special. She loved nothing more than having her family all together.
She is survived by eight children, Wes, (Cheryl), Leslie, (Gordon), Em, (Bill), Tim, (Tracie), Vicki, (Dave), Rick, (Trish), Jim, (Amie), Jenny, 53 grandchildren, and 43 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way.
