George Arthur Hiatt, age 84 of Los Banos, CA, died Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Sutter Memorial Hospital in Modesto, CA.
George was born August 17, 1934 in Quincy, Illinois to Thelma Bernice Densmore and Reverend Truman Alfred Hiatt. George was married November 7, 1954 to Mary Lois Grandstaff. They had 3 daughters.
George and his family moved to Los Banos in 1973 where he worked for the State of California as the manager of the Dept. of Motor Vehicles. He was an active member in the Rotary Club and received the prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship Award.
He was a father and husband first, a reserve patrolman, butcher by trade, a skilled carpenter, and an overall really great person who would have been honored to know you.
George is survived by his wife, Mary Hiatt, daughters Shelia Sommers, Shelley Hiatt, Sherry Anderson, grandchildren Ryan Sommers, Katie Brunkhorst, Rachel Anderson, John Anderson, and great grandchildren Avery Brunkhorst and Scarlett Brunkhorst.
A private service was held at Fierro Family Funeral Home in Dos Palos, CA. A burial service will be held in the fall at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore, Ohio.
Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Sutter Memorial Hospital Los Banos.
