Jimmie Smith was born on June 26, 1946 to William (Willie) Smith and Corine (Brumbley) Smith in Fresno, California. Jimmie was raised in Firebaugh, California, later on he moved to Dos Palos with his wife Darlene Smith until his passing on November 30, 2024. Jimmie passed away in Los Banos after a lengthy illness in which he bravely fought to overcome, he closed his eyes in rest with his loved ones at his side.
Jimmie was a loyal employee with Anderson & Clayton for 40 years until he retired. Jimmie did not accept retiring too well as he returned to work at Superior Almonds for another seven years before finally retiring (for good). Jimmie worked very hard for his family and did not take too much for himself or hobbies, although in his earlier days he did have an interest in gold dredging.
Jimmies favorite past time was spending time with his family, especially his (3) great grandchildren who were the light of his life. He was very devoted to each of them and took great interest in their lives and loved talking with them and listening to all they had to say about all the details of their daily lives. He was a very proud PaPa.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents William and Corine Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Darlene Smith, his devoted daughter Linda Rippee and his son in law Rick Rippee (both of Dos Palos). His only grandson, Brandon Smith of Dos Palos, Vanessa DeHoyos Smith of Los Banos and Jimmies (3) great grandchildren Brandon, Thalia, and Juanita (Janie) his greatest joys.
He also leaves behind many friends, brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews and many co-workers who admired Jimmie for his work ethic and devotion to his family.
Jimmie will be laid to rest on December 17, 2024 at Dos Palos Cemetery, Graveside Service only, at 10 am. There will be a small gathering after, which will be announced once the service concludes.
