John Stephen Russell

John Stephen Russell, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, sadly passed away on August 14, 2023, leaving behind wonderful memories and a profound legacy. He was an only child born on February 11, 1936 in Fresno, Ca. John was predeceased by his loving wife, Gladys Russell and his parents Lovell and Ethel Russell. He is survived by his two sons Stephen Russell & wife Marcia of Fresno and David Russell & wife Maggie of Atwater. He dearly loved time spent with his eight grandchildren: Dustin Russell & wife Courtney, Chelsea Ottemoeller & husband Josh, Megan Russell, Christy Russell, Josh Russell & wife Malissa, Troy Wilson, Michael Wilson & wife Monica, and Jonathan Wilson & wife Magnolia, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. John enjoyed sitting in his front yard most afternoons and visiting with his wonderful neighbors. He sincerely valued their friendship and appreciated their company, kindness, and generosity. Those special times spent together created many lasting memories and our entire family is eternally grateful. In recent years, John discovered great happiness riding his 3-wheel trike and electric scooter. He was a dreamer who lived many of his dreams. John always enjoyed family and looked forward to family vacations in Avila Beach, Pismo Beach, Susanville, Monterey, Santa Cruz, and afternoon drives in the mountains. Throughout his life, John resided in several towns in northern and central California, before eventually settling in Dos Palos. John had a successful career as a General Manager of several movie theaters where he continued his work until he retired in 1998. John will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His presence will continue to inspire and uplift those fortunate enough to have shared in his remarkable journey.
