Larry Foster Obituary

Larry Gene Foster was born to Mary Helen and Victor Gene on January 26th, 1960, in Dos Palos Ca. He attended local schools and after two tours in the second grade as he would tell the story he graduated from Dos Palos High School in 1979. Larry attended Merced College until 1981 when he decided to head to Texas and went to work with his dad at the bar, The San Antonio Rose. In 1985 Larry switched gears and began working for Budweiser. The death of his beloved granddad JR that same year brought him home to Dos Palos to be closer to family and help his Granny. Larry began dating Susan Burns upon his return home and they married on Valentines Day in 1987. Larry and Susan moved to New Mexico for six months so Larry could learn the drycleaning business. In 1988 they returned home, bought a little house on Madera Street and Larry went to work with his dad and Granny at Johnnies Cleaners. Larry and Susan welcomed two daughters, Clair Elizabeth, in 1991 and Amanda Gene in 1996. In 1998 Larry began a 28-year career at Central California Irrigation District until his retirement in 2023 spending his last six years as the south end Superintendent. After his brother Jons sudden passing and some health scares of his own, Larry embraced his health and fitness. He began walking daily, riding a bike, and working out 3 days a week at Evelyn’s House of Pain and Pleasure as he would call it, aka The Powerhouse Gym. He bought an iWatch, ear buds, multiple pairs of tennis shoes and set out everyday to close his exercise rings. Larry loved to build things…damns, bridges, and the house he and Susan shared that they raised their girls in. Never one to be idle, retirement found LG in his beloved woodshop crafting beautiful pieces for Susan, his girls, and family and friends.
