Mary Jane Magana, the beloved daughter of Alfredo Bernardino Trevino and Natalia Esparza Trevino, was born on December 20, 1949, in San Benito, Texas. Growing up in Northern California, she graduated from Cupertino High School and attended DeAnza College. With her positive and lively spirit, Mary Jane drew friends and acquaintances alike, thriving in music, dancing at high school sock ups—where they would take off their shoes to dance in socks—and enjoying live football and roller skating, always inviting friends to join in her joy.
On July 4, 1969, at the age of 19, she met the love of her life, Jose Luis Magana, making the first move that sparked a beautiful romance. They married in October 1970 in Reno, Nevada, and were blessed with 10 children, 9 of whom survived. Married for 54 wonderful years, Mary Jane showed her family the true meaning of love, God, family, and unity. She cherished the moments when her children gathered to sing karaoke, finding joy in their laughter and melodies. Until the very end, she demonstrated what it truly means to fight for those you love. Mary Jane embraced her role as a grandmother to 18 and a great-grandmother to 6, with her legacy of love continuing to grow—"praise be to God!"
In her professional life, Mary Jane made significant contributions to the high-tech industry, working at Memorex and IBM, and later retiring from Santa Clara County as a nutritionist from WIC, always dedicated to serving her community. After retirement, she moved to Los Banos, California, where she indulged in her passions for bingo, family BBQs, and Mariachi music—especially when serenaded by her husband.
Known as La Reyna Mary Jane Magana is survived by her husband Luis and her children Carmen, Loui, Virginia, Doreen, John Paul, Larry, MaryJane, Tony, and Michael. She led by example, championing her beliefs in God, love, unity, health, family, and her beloved animals. Her vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
