Salvador “Chava” Torres, 76, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 13th, 2021 in Somerton, Az.
Salvador was born October 8th, 1945 in Harlingen Texas to Rafael and Maria Torres. He is the 2nd eldest of 12 children and preceded in death by his brother Juan. Chava moved with his parents and wife Maria “Lupe” to Los Baños, California. During that time Chava and Lupe had four children, one son Salvador Torres Jr, and three daughters, Sylvia A. Sandoval, Maria G. Garcia and Belinda Iniguez.
Salvador moved to California looking for better opportunities for himself and Lupe with the goal of buying his first home, which he did. Salvador was a hard worker, respected his parents as others, and provided for his wife and children as any hard-working caring man would. He brought up his children to be hard-working individuals and to work hard for what they wanted in life. Salvador’s motto was “do not rely on anyone, but yourself” and “hard work always pays off”. Salvador worked at Wolfsen’s Feed Lot for 20 plus years and then for San Luis Fish and Wildlife Refuge, where he then retired in 2014. Salvador was a devoted husband to his loving wife Lupe and caring father, but who also disciplined his children when needed and taught them to respect others. He loved family gatherings and always enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s baseball and football games. He loved doing yard work and always loved when neighbors or family would comment on how “good his yard looked”. He was married to the love of his life Lupe for 57 years. They went everywhere together. Salvador loved dancing. He and Lupe were well known for being "GREAT" dancers that everyone would love to watch as they danced around on the dance floor. Salvador was a "wonderful” father, grandfather and great- grandfather who will truly be missed by all. Salvador is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Maria “Lupe” Torres, his parents Rafael and Maria Torres.
