Samuel Carnell Jr. was born in Merced, California on April 24, 1948, to Samuel and Effie Carnell who both precede him in death, along with his eldest sister Willie Jean Ingram. Sam attended school in Dos Palos graduating from Dos Palos High School in 1967. After graduating he was drafted into the army where he served and honored his country faithfully in the Armed Forces and became a Sargent. He was honorably discharged in 1970. He returned to Dos Palos where he would pick up where he left off at his former job at the Farmers Rice Corp for over 30 years. He found love and was married in 1977. From this union, he and his beautiful wife Lavette were blessed with six wonderful children.
All who were blessed to know Sam would agree he was a very loving soul with a giving heart. He would often take eggs and rice to the elderly families around the community. He also loved spending time with his children and taught them to be respectful to everyone.
He leaves to cherish his memory: Three daughters, Casandra Taylor. Crystal Carnell, both of Fresno, California, and Wanisha Carnell of Mobile, Alabama. Three sons, Michael, Jonathan, and Joseph Carnell of Fresno, California. Two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Juanita Redding of Dos Palos, California, Lona De La Cruz of Chowchilla, California, and his brothers, David Carnell of Dos Palos, California, and Harry Carnell of Chowchilla, California. Not to mention a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He will truly be missed but never forgotten.
